China Mission Trip
March 28 - April 15

This short term project to China will be in conjunction with the Chinese for Christ Bible Institute. Primary purpose of the trip involves working with Chinese high school and/or university students in two schools, one in Xian and the another in Kunming. We will spend four days in each of the schools teaching the students about United States culture. In these activities we will have numerous opportunities as described below to talk about our faith and testimony. As we visit the other cities in the trip seeing many of the famous attractions in China, opportunities will be available to meet church members and participate with them in their activities.

Rev. Clifford Liu will be directing our activities. Rev. Dick Foster will be our SERVE team leader. Both of these individuals have been to China numerous times so they are very familiar with Chinese culture, know how to get around, know how to meet the church people, and are familiar with the tourist sites we will visit.

In this trip plans associated with the teaching activities in the schools involves giving presentations about several holidays that are celebrated in the United States. Subsequent trips will involve discussions about other aspects of our culture. About 100 students are anticipated (see photo for a typical classroom scene) who will be divided in small groups for discussions about the material we present. All activities will be in English to aid the students in becoming more knowledgeable in speaking English.

Each group leader will be responsible for his or her group and will have meals with the group. Presentations will be in the morning. Afternoons will involve opportunitiesfor sight seeing with the Chinese students being the tour guides. After the evening meals there will be meeting with the student groups for further discussions. As students raise question arising from the presentations and discussions, there should be ample opportunities to share your Christian faith. There also will be opportunities for gift sharing with the students. This project enables you to promote understanding between our cultures and religion, visit many Chinese churches and famous attractions.

the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and an orphanage and meet church people in the city. We will then fly to Xion where we will be for four days working with the students and visiting some of the famous sites such as the Terra-Cotta warriors. We will then fly to Gulin which is the number one tourist attraction in China with many wonderful mountains and rivers in the area. We will take a cruise on the beautiful Li River (see photo). Then we will fly to Shanghai where we will do some touring, last minute shopping before leaving China, and meet with church people. Then we fly to Beijing and home.
