This
project consists of building a much needed church in Swedru, Ghana for
the Living Christian Church International (Ghana) in cooperation with
Heritage AFlame (USA). The church congregation is growing very
rapidly under the ministry of Rev. John Adjei shown in the photo with
his family. In just a brief period, this cong-regation has grown
to around 300 members and is expanding rapidly. Three new members
accepting the Lord are shown during an evening service. It has greatly
out grown the structure shown that is currently being used for the
church. Also shown is the pastor in his church office which is nothing
more than a table under the roof of the existing church.![]() The pastor has a great vision for his ministry where he plans to use the work of God as a bases for both spiritual and physical development of his people. Working with Heritage AFlame, he has already developed a school for youth in Swedru. He would like to set up further schools for the many children there and construct a medical clinic near the church. Also he would like to develop programs for such things as training his people in modern farming methods and various vocational skills. ![]() |
The two maps shown give the location
of Ghana and define where Swedru is located in the country. As can be
seen, it is in the south central part of Ghana not far from the capital
city, Accra. The photo shows the main street in the city.![]() The local people have developed the design of the church that they would like. It is a building that is 51’ x 61’ with a concrete foundation, brick walls, wood roof trusses, a sheet metal roof, and a concrete floor. The work will be led by Chuck Eddy, an experienced contractor who has led building projects in other third world countries. It is anticipated to take five weeks to construct the church. The plan is to have a small, experienced team there from the US to lead the construction work and hire the local people to perform most of the work. This will provide quite an economic help to these very poor people. The key need is about $35,000 for two items: 1) purchase of needed materials which is about $30,000 and 2) about $5,000 for hiring the local labor. Your help in providing these much funds is greatly appreciated. |
