Perform Construction and Medical Mission Work in Runa Simi, Peru In October

A team will be going to Peru in October to perform
(1) construction work in Runa Simi and (2) medical mission work in the Runa Simi area. This is a facility where Quechua Indians who live in the high Andes Mountains are trained to be evangelists where they then go into the villages spreading the Gospel to their people and do church planting. The facility is located an hours drive east of Lima. Training activities were started there by Romuo Saune in 1969, a great leader of the Christian movement in the Quechua's throughout Peru. He was killed by the Shining Path terrorist group in 1992. His wife. Donna Saune, now runs the facility. They have extensive study materials in their Quechua dialect and great programs for teaching their people the Gospel. They are doing a fantastic job of advancing Christianity within their people. Their work has been supported and guided by a Wycliffe missionary who has worked with them for many years. It should be noted that all people associated with this facility experienced considerable persecution by the terrorist group in the late 80's and early 90's.

Their ministry has been expanded so much that improvements are needed in their facility to accommodate the large classes attending their training sessions. SERVE has had teams there the last two years. The first team performed much needed maintenance work. The team that
was there in June and July of 2004 performed construction work to expand their restroom facilities and class rooms. They made great progress but did not have time to complete the work. The team in 2005 being led by Bob Buric will hopefully be able to complete the much needed expansions of the Runa Simi facility for training their people. Bob is very well qualified in that he has participated and led construction activities in numerous 3rd world countries. About $10,000 in needed to purchase the required materials to perform the construction work.

Planning is also underway to conduct medical missions in the Runa Simi area in parallel with the building work. We did that last summer for eight days in four different location. We treated about 900 people of which 180 of them accepted the Lord.

Cost will be on the order of $700-$900 for round trip air fare to Lima depending upon where you live and some small expenses for room and board while in Runa Simi which is where you will stay with the local people. While in Peru, you are encouraged to take a side trip to Machu Picchu to see the ruins of the famous mca City.
