Retreat Center

SHORT-TERM MISSION PROJECTS IN 2005

1) January - A two man team went to Gambella
in far westernEthiopia to get work started
on building a dormitory for the BARO Bible
School where Neur Tribe people are trained
to be pastors and evangelists.
2) Late March into mid April - An eleven
member team performed a mission trip into
China visiting several cities doing combined
mission work with a variety of groups and
some touring.
3) Late April into eariy May - An eight member
team worked with handicapped children in
an orphanage about a two hour train ride
south of Beijing
4) Late May into eariy June - A ten member
team went to the KAKO Retreat Center in far
western Alaska to perform a variety of building,
maintenance and house keeping chores associated
with the care and feeding of the KAKO staff,
SERVE team, and groups of native Americans
that came there for retreats.
5) Late June into mid July - Two people worked
in an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya where children
having aids live. This facility is operated
by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
6) Late September into eariy October - An
eight member team spent two weeks working
with Action International missionaries in
northern Uganda where they are ministering
with the Acholi Tribe which has been badly
terrorized for about 20 years by the Lords
Republic Army.
7) Late October into eariy November - An
eighteen member team went to Peru to work
for two weeks in and around a mission station
called Runa Simi which is an hours drive
east of Lima. Quecha Indians are trained
to be evangelists here were they go up into
the high Andes spreading the
gospel in the thousands of small Quecha villages.
The team did construction work in the facility
and medical mission work in several areas
around there where the people were treated
both medically and spiritually.
